 SAN FRANCISCO

Duration: Half Day

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all going through a pause in traveling. Thankfully San Francisco is not too bad of a drive from Los Angeles. To spend this 4th of July with family and to celebrate in the best possible way, we took a trip to see the city for the day. No matter how many times I visit San Francisco, I will always enjoy capturing the views in different ways. Looking for a small day getaway? Half a day in San Francisco was an amazing way to do it.

STOP 1: GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE VIEW POINTS

First stop was the golden gate bridge from a top and mid view point. With clear skies, a bit of wind, and empty view points, it turned out to be one of the best times. This is the first time we visited and my sister was not with us.. This is one of the spots she wanted to visit again once she left the hospital. My mom screamed her name at the top of her lungs as we were at the top. Venting and just longing for her. Just when you have that feeling that you are healing, there's nothing wrong when you feel the sadness and need to let it out. So scream at the top of your lungs and let go of things that make you sad, the disappointment you faced, and heartbreak you encountered.

STOP 2: THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS

Sadly, due to the circumstances, The Palace of Fine Arts is currently closed. However, it doesn't mean you can't take beautiful photos outside of their building. The Palace of Fine Arts is still a sight to see whether you are able to go in or not. If it is closed, be sure to stop here next time.

STOP 3: LOMBARD STREET-CROOKED ROAD

Known as the crooked road. This is one point of interest to visit. As a kid, I used to visit this spot every time I was in San Francisco. For once, I went through this in less than 5 minutes. The street are pretty much empty due to our current situation so it was nice to take some photos and go through the crooked road without getting stuck for a long time.

STOP 4 & 5 : MANGO CRAZY & MACONDRAY

We visited the location by Fisherman's Wharf. There are a lot of spots to enjoy when you have more times and less restrictions. Pier 39 is a very known hot spot. For this time around, we were unable to do much since things were closed due to the increase in numbers of COVID cases again.  At Mango Crazy, they have one of the best Ceviche. That is definitely a must purchase from their menu. There are a lot more options on their menu from drinks to other snacks, but you must try their Ceviche. It's so fresh, chips delicious, the lime juice and hot sauce just all together create a delicious snack. If you are not a spice person, be sure to tell them not to include the hot sauce on top. I suggest purchasing a drink next door from starbucks just to make sure you have a drink to wash down the spice if ever.

Since last year when my husband and I were here during our bachelor/bachelorette weekend, we always look for LOBSTER ROLLS. We were going to return to the spot we tried last time but the drive and traffic was a bit much since we would have to drive close to the San Francisco Airport. Due to the fact we did not want to drive so far just for it, we had to research another place that sold lobster rolls. I am so glad we were lazy because if not, we wouldn't of found our next stop which was MACONDRAY.

Macondray is such a lovely place to go to. Even if we were unable to dine in, the spot was still a beautiful place and their menu was absolutely divine. They sell cocktails and New England inspired food. Of course, we found our lobster rolls, Maine style lobster roll on toasted buttered bun, so you MUST order one of these. Then we also encountered their cocktail menu which I am soooo going to go back for. For this visit, since you can't dine in, you are able to order drinks to go. We ordered Mimi's Peaches on the Beaches for 2, which is bourbon infused with fresh local peaches, tarragon, mixed with Lemon Juice and Pure Cane Sugar. This was a summer Christmas in a cup. I loved the peachy flavor with a hint of that holiday feels. Since I couldn't decide between two drinks, we also ordered their frozen mudslide which had Bailey's Irish Cream, Vodka, Mr. Black Coffee Liquor, and Coconut Milk. Now this made me grow chest hair (not literally lol) but it was strong on so many different levels. Not a bad thing, just be prepared! I would visit Macondray again the next time I visit San Francisco. The workers were all so very kind as well, menu had so many great options, and I just loved the atmosphere.
