Today marks the second year of The Project of Purpose & Life. Two years ago on this day, I was in the hospital room of my sister sitting next to her and seeing the miraculous things God did for her not knowing that in the end, our lives would take an unexpected turn and our faith would be tested even more than ever. My sister was diagnosed with skull/brain cancer in 2019 and survived a difficult surgery with zero complications. I remember sitting on my computer trying to figure out what new thing I can create to bring purpose and realness to the forefront, and to share the journey of my sister. After a lot of brainstorming and planning, creating this brand was born to share true life stories that happened to myself and of people in all walks of life.
Just months after The Project of Purpose & Life went live, my sister unfortunately passed away at the age of 38. Her tumors returned aggressively to the brain in late February 2020 and this time around there was nothing that could be done. Through that moment in life, my sister continued to uphold her faith and told us that the Lord said there will be a bigger story to tell of our season and to the circumstances we faced. Not knowing that it would mean her not physically being here, it is seen that the bigger story is happening and that God is still using her life for His purpose. Her absence is merely a physically matter (although we miss her everyday), but her legacy is what lasts forever.
It hasn't been easy trying to keep this lifestyle blog up and running these past two years. There is still heartache, grief, and sadness, but there's been the lesson of knowing what having joy is, and living it. There are moments where it's always easier to give up and be discouraged by everything happening around, but rising above that and doing what I can to live each day to the fullest has been my way to be thankful for the blessing of another morning to do something new. My sister's life has taught me to do what I can while I can for the kingdom of God in whatever outlet, creative space, or way possible.
In the last year I created and opened TIKIM in honor of my sister's life. What was once a make believe dream transformed into reality. Although, I wish my sister was alongside me to be a part of this success, she will always remain the reason and passion that TIKIM runs on. The things created within the TIKIM brand is a representation and combination of pieces of my sister Tiffany (TI) and myself Kimberley (KIM). Together, we hope that we can bring a little love and encouragement into each of your homes and hearts (TIKIM).
TIKIM has expanded from selling savory and sweet baked goods, to also creating custom handmade gifts such as mugs, glasses, coasters, and so much more! Thank you all for the continuous support, love, and prayers that has been given so far to The Project of Purpose & Life and TIKIM.
To the family, friends, and followers who supported TIKIM this 2021 holiday season, thank you all so much! It's because of you that we are able to continue and grow. I look forward to 2022 and the many more creative things that we get to share. God bless you all and your family this holiday season!
Sincerely,
Kimmee
