[No.024] The Project of an Illustrator & Building a City

This piece of art has such deep meaning, and I am utterly thankful for DoniLuv who created this piece for me. I wanted and needed a piece of art that brought together The Project of Purpose & Life. I could not imagine a better way of having this piece than the way it was created.

Having this piece is something that will forever stay with me because it brings my life experiences and stories together. The meaning of each part of this picture that was used to create and connect it to a much larger piece as whole is just beyond amazing.

I truly have so much respect for artists and it's been such an experience and blessing that I was able to work with 2 different local artists in the last couple of months. As I posted in the past ([No.009] The Project of Memories & Art) Erin created such a masterpiece in memory of my sister, and this DoniLuv piece brings The Project of Purpose & Life together at a glance.

Let's continue to support our local artist in what they do. They invest their time and put their skills to the test and come out with such meaningful artwork.

Thank you Donnie Vasquez from DoniLuv for this wonderful piece of art of showcasing The Project of Purpose & Life into an art form.

Meet Donnie

Donnie is an illustrator from California City, California. He said that art may be at the front of his life because it’s what he can put out there easily. It relaxes him, it’s something he does, and it helps provide some side income. Although, art is not his full passion, and he even tells people that drawing isn't a must in his life.

His big passion is for California City and the will of God. If he can use his art and design talents there, build a city, show God through it all, and that this city could be built with Christ at the center, that’s what he wants to do, and that's what he's doing.

In 2017 his parents sold their house and moved to where God had called them, and he went with them to see the house. As he looked out from the backyard over the town, he knew God was going to do something great here and He was calling him to be part of it.

California City has been marked by the internet as the city that never was. When he stepped into the backyard and looked over the town, he saw the city that was going to be. This is what God has been preparing him for.

One of the biggest projects in his life is to help build a city that starts with Love. His family has an "I Love California City" campaign, which was the beginning of a cultural shift. They wanted to bring out people who cared and wanted to start fixing things.

At the end of 2019 they opened a coffee and tea shop called, "Raven’s Nest Café". It was inspired from the High School’s mascot. People said they wanted a place to casually socialize, and a place where they also wanted somewhere to get coffee and good soup. They never intended for the cafe to make them money. It was meant for the people not them, and they knew it would be a struggle. But their prayer is that God will provide and make it sustainable for itself. With this cafe, they are able to meet and talk to more people in town and also the visitors who pass by and continue to SHARE LOVE.
