[No. 022] The Project of Foodie Dice & Seasonal Dinners (01)

Happy Friday Everyone! As the weekend is approaching, it's always nice to think of things to do to kick start the weekend. Thanks to Two Tumbleweeds who created Foodie Dice, this is a fun way to really get out of your comfort zone. I cook but I've never had to get out of my element and figure out how to make a meal from scratch with "required" ingredients.

I honestly felt like I was on Food Network's show Chopped. But this was a fun way of playing with food, getting out of my comfort zone, and trying to put something together with the ingredients that were randomly chosen.

Foodie Dice is a fun way to cook. It feels like a game in a way. I used their Seasonal Dinner edition. Here you are given dice that show a cooking method, protein, grain/card, herb, a bonus ingredient, and 4 seasonal veggie dice. With the seasonal veggie, you choose the one according to the season we're currently in, and basically you roll the dice and see what it lands on.

For my roll, I had to braise chicken, have potatoes and corn in my dish, and include dill and lemon. Everything seemed okay except the cooking method "BRAISE". I have never cooked in this way, had no clue as to how to even use this cooking method, but after researching, I figured it out.

Whether your knowledge on cooking is advance or just a beginner, the foodie dice is a simple, yet fun way to get you cooking. I was scared when I was cooking with these random ingredients, not really having a defined recipe or plan in front of me, but I absolutely loved doing it.

I came up with braised chicken in a creamy dill and lemon sauce, cooked with corn and potatoes, and sprinkled with basil. One of my favorite recipes made from scratch. This is a great item to add to your kitchen, an idea to add to your recipe journal, and a great activity for yourself, as a couple, or even with friends or family! Have fun playing with food! (In a non-messy way!)
